Outside my window this morning I am greeted by a dusting of white
Liberally spread across April’s pastel palette,
Even the dove roosting in the maple tree is dressed in a white cloak;
Outside is a world of contrast where dark and light enhances one another—
Each ridge in the tree bark more defined
Every rail on the backyard fence highlighted—
And, the snow brightened in the partnering;
April’s fresh colors fair less well,
They have become grayer and the sky seems to have drained its color:
It is but a momentary respite, a time to take a breath, to prepare for tomorrow
When the resurrection bursts forth in all its glory
Into full bloom.
