We all must pass by,
Some tarry but a short while
Others much longer;
Each of us mark our being,
Sometimes with a sudden burst of energy that dazzles the eyes,
Sometimes with a more permanent exercise meant to stand against time;
All have consequence for those who witness the passing.
But how many take the time to notice?
This is the measure of both the leave taker and the observer;
And I wish to be counted among both.
