The One that Didn’t Get Away

deadfish

Tell us again about the one who went astray
And why you didn’t let him get away;
When others might have chosen flight
You selected to stay and fight,
We’ve heard that you were  deputized to protect your street
And that is why you found it necessary to pack heat
You felt threatened this one thing is clear
But we want to understand the reason for your fear
Was it the hoodie that cloaked his face
Or did it have more to do with race?
While so many unanswered questions remain
Your acts are repeated by others, again and again,
Tell us why you didn’t let this one get away
So his brother can preserve himself for yet another day.
