Tea without You

I had a conversation with you today
Sadly you were somewhere far away
I poured myself a cup of tea
And wished you sat across from me
How much sweeter if you’d been there
Settled in a comfy chair
It’s been so long since we were neighbors
When chat fests eased our daily labors
So many years have passed and grayed our hair
Trivial matters to friends who really care
My tea’s gone cold
The rhymes grown old
And, before the repetition grows too thin
I think it’s time I packed it in
I loved our chat but it’s not the same
In fact without you it’s been lame.
